- Brennan Poole fastest in Kansas open test: Brennan Poole showed the way in testing at Kansas Speedway. Poole finished with the best lap of the morning session, and then the afternoon session as well, to lead a group of 28 entries that made laps throughout the day. As was the case at Pocono Raceway and Michigan International Speedway earlier this season, new pavement at Kansas made for times much faster than any seen before. (ARCARacing.com) (10-05-12)
- Chad Hackenbracht participates in Michigan tire test: Representatives from Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. and the ARCA Racing Series visited Michigan International Speedway this week to conduct a second tire test on the two-mile oval's surface, paved last October and competed upon for the first time this June. The pavement project was Michigan's fourth after opening in 1968, and the track's first since 1995. CGH Motorsports driver Chad Hackenbracht, who competed in the June race and has been Hoosier's primary test driver this season, was ARCA's driver representative at the test. "The track has evolved from when we raced here to our observation today, but very slightly," said Doug Barnes, Hoosier product manager for the ARCA Racing Series. "We're working to resolve the heat issue we saw here on the new track, and we've been successful. We've got some options to look at. We haven't determined exactly the compound, but we've narrowed it down quite a bit and we're pretty close." (ARCARacing.com) (08-23-12)
- Will Kimmel fastest in second day Talladega testing: Two scheduled sessions turned into one after morning rain delayed the start of the second day of open testing at Talladega Superspeedway, and Will Kimmel led the pack. Kimmel drove the top lap of the two-day ARCA Racing Series open test on Wednesday, with a speed of 181.939 mph. He topped Andy Belmont Racing's Mikey Kile, who best effort was 52.971 seconds (180.778 mph). (ARCARacing.com) (04-19-12)
- Brian Keselowski Motorsports seeking funded drivers for Talladega test: Brian Keselowski Motorsports (BKM) is seeking drivers who would like to attend the Open ARCA Test at Talladega Superspeedway on April 17th and 18th, 2012. - Mason Mitchell testing for Bobby Gerhart Racing: Mason Mitchell Racing has signed an agreement with Bobby Gerhart Racing for a one day superspeedway test. As part of the agreement, Mason Mitchell will be testing one of BGR’s Chevrolet Imapalas at the 2.66 mile Talladega SuperSpeedway. The test will be conducted on January 30th. While the test could lead to a part time ARCA schedule for Mason and BGR, there are some obstacles that every new driver faces. “We need to have a good test for many reasons,” says Mason. “This test is key to getting ARCA approval, and also showing our potential marketing partners our full potential.” If all goes well, both teams are looking forward to working together during the 2012 ARCA Season. - ARCA Finalizes 2012 Open Test Schedule: The Automobile Racing Club of America has finalized its schedule of nine open testing days at six tracks for the 2012 ARCA Racing Series season, adding to several dates released earlier this week. Talladega Superspeedway, which will hold its 50th ARCA race this season, will open to testers on Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18. The race at Talladega is scheduled for Friday May 4. Michigan International Speedway will host testing Tuesday, May 22, weeks ahead of the Friday, June 15 race. Kansas Speedway will host ARCA's season finale for the first time this year, and testing at the track will occur Tuesday, October 2. The season finale is slated for Friday, October 19. All drivers must be pre-approved by the ARCA competition committee, and have a 2012 physical and drug screen on file with ARCA. - Two day Talladega test: The list of entrants for the ARCA RE/MAX Series open test at Talladega Superspeedway, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, September 17th & 18th, looks more like the main event. At present, 30-plus drivers have sent notice that they intend on testing at Talladega in preparation for the upcoming ARCA RE/MAX 200, LIVE on SPEED Friday, October 3rd at 5:00 pm ET. From a nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion to a rising star in the NASCAR ranks; from Roush Fenway Racing to Kevin Harvick, Inc., the field is packed with flavor and stories galore to help get things kicked off at the renowned 2.66-mile Alabama speedplant. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Joey Logano is one of the drivers scheduled to test. Logano, who won the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Rockingham Speedway back in May, is entered in a Venturini Motorsports-prepared Chevrolet. Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., who is currently second in ARCA RE/MAX Series points, is also scheduled to test. AMA Motocross national champion Ricky Carmichael is also entered to test. The Clearwater, Florida driver is entered in a no. 33 Kevin Harvick, Inc Chevrolet. Other test entrants include nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion and former Talladega winner Frank Kimmel, five-time Daytona winner and former Talladega winner Bobby Gerhart, 1999 ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Bill Baird in a Ken Schrader-owned Dodge and rookie Sean Caisse, entered in a Shigeaki Hattori-owned Aisin Toyota. Noticeably absent from the list is current ARCA RE/MAX Series point leader Scott Speed, who will be in Las Vegas competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Jeff Fultz is scheduled to test the Eddie Sharp-owned Red Bull Toyota in place of Speed. The Eddie Sharp Racing team is also testing two other team cars with Ken Butler III and Justin Lofton driving. - Michigan testing: Several ARCA RE/MAX Series teams traveled to Michigan Int'l Speedway on Wednesday to participate in a full day open test session in preparation for the series' June 13th appearance to the 2-mile oval. The race will mark the series' 27th appearance to MIS since 1980 and the ninth of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Jesse Smith, in a Jones Group Dodge, was unofficially quickest among the 16 drivers who participated; posting a time of 38.967 for a speed of 184.772 mph. Full Speeds (ARCA Racing) (05-30-08)
