17-Year-Old Racer Will Make Second ARCA Series Start This Weekend

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 22, 2015) – Developing young driver Austin Cindric will make his second ARCA Racing Series start this weekend when he will compete for Cunningham Motorsports in the Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway.

The 17-year-old Cindric will race the No. 99 AutoZone Ford for Cunningham Motorsports on Friday, September 25. Earlier this season, Cindric had a strong ARCA Racing Series debut when he led 29 laps and finished fourth for the team at Iowa Speedway.

“It was a great experience working with Cunningham Motorsports at Iowa. I didn’t really know what to expect in my first stock car race. I certainly learned a lot, ” said Cindric, who will also drive the AutoZone Ford in Tuesday’s ARCA open test at Kentucky Speedway. “I’m looking forward to my first one-and-a-half-mile race, and hopefully, we can gain more experience and produce even better results for the team.”

Austin races full time in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series where he drives a Ford Shelby GT350R-C Mustang. He is also competing full time in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Series where he is currently leading the championship in the Lites division point standings with three victories and three races remaining. Cindric became the youngest ever winner in the IMSA Continental Tires Series with a win at Mosport in July. He also earned a bronze medal in the 2014 X-Games. Earlier this year, he became the youngest driver to ever compete in the prestigious Bathurst 12 Hour race in Australia where he raced in a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 in the A class. Eager to develop his skills as a driver, Cindric has built a diverse racing resume and he has competed in five different Series in 2015.

“We’re excited to continue working with Austin while he builds on his development in stock car racing,” said Kerry Scherer, Managing Director of Cunningham Motorsports. “He did a great job with our team at Iowa and we’ll definitely be up for the challenge of racing at Kentucky Speedway.”

Winners of three ARCA events in 2015, Cunningham Motorsports has partnered with Team Penske in the past to help create opportunities for talented young drivers.

The ARCA Racing Series Crosley Brands 150 will start at 8:00 pm ET on Friday, September 25 and will be televised live on FOXSports1.
