Brandon Lynn, driver of the No. 36 Cribs Creek Outfitters/MOMO Motorsport Ford Fusion, appeared well on the way to a top-10 finish on Friday in the General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway, but a transmission issue ended his day 31 laps from the finish.
Lynn was running eighth at the time and patiently awaiting on an opportunity to make a move towards the front.
Despite how practice and qualifying went for the team, Lynn was satisfied with the car they had for the race. After qualifying 25th, he drove his way all the way up to the top-10, pushing for a place in the top five.
In typical Talladega fashion, Lynn was then pushed out of the pack by a competitor and fell back through the field.
“Once we fell back, it seemed that we were losing power there in the end,” Lynn said. “The clutch went out and then our day was over. We proved ourselves out there, though. We had a really fast car, and I was excited to be running up in the top-10 for as long as I did. I’m happy that we were able to be competitive despite the troubles that we did have with the caved in nose and clutch.”
Overall, Lynn was proud of the team’s effort this weekend at Talladega in his first career Talladega start.
“The superspeedways are a blast,” Lynn said.” Everything is up close and it’s a challenge when having to use different techniques to gain positions compared to the usual short track racing.”
