Fighting handling issues, Holmes visited pit road under caution on lap 88 for a round of adjustments. Quick work by the No. 23 pit crew placed Holmes in the second position for the restart. Holmes gathered momentum and jumped to the lead. The Munford, Ala., native paced the field until a late-race caution was displayed on lap 98. BRET HOLMES QUOTES:
As a driver, talk about what it is like to race at Pocono Raceway.
“Racing at Pocono (Raceway) is arguably the most unique track that we race. It only has three corners with a really long front straightaway. The most unique part is all the corners are different. Most tracks that we race at have some similarities but at Pocono, all three corners vary in banking, length and speed. In my opinion, turn two is the make-or-break corner. It’s where all the speed is made up or lost. I think the car that can get through there the best is going to be the better car at the end of the day.”

What are your goals heading into this week’s race?
“I feel confident going into this week’s race. We showed in our first speedway race of the season that we can compete upfront and lead laps. I think we’re really strong in that area. I think a lot of teams have peaked already in their season, but I think we’re still getting better and have room to peak. Our goal is to have a solid run and make up ground in the points. We just have to keep our heads up and improving on our mistakes.”
