Tricky Details … Holmes has five previous starts at the Long Pond, Pa., -based track. In those five starts, he has garnered one top-five and two top-10 finishes. Holmes has a 12.8 average starting position, coupled with an 11.2 average finishing position.

To the Point … Holmes is currently second in the ARCA Menards Series driver championship point standings. The 22-year-old driver trails the leader by 90 points heading into this week’s race at Pocono Raceway.

Season Update … With six races remaining in the ARCA Menards Series season, Holmes has finished 10th or better in every race except for two events, Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The Munford. Ala., native earned his best finish so far this season at Michigan International Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway when he finished third. As Holmes heads to Pocono Raceway, he rides the momentum of five top-five and 12 top-10 finishes.

Review Mirror: Iowa Speedway … The No. 23 team started practice atop of the leaderboard. After making an adjustment and heading back out onto the track for another practice run, Holmes made contact with the outside wall. With a heavily damaged No. 23 machine, the Mooresville, N.C., -based team was forced to unload the backup car. The team was unable to make a qualifying run and started from the rear of the field. During the final caution of the night, crew chief Shane Huffman called Holmes to pit road for four tires, a splash of fuel and a small chassis adjustment. Holmes moved into the eighth spot on the lap 148 restart, earning his 12th top-10 finish of the season.

What did you learn from the last race at Pocono Raceway that you can apply to this week’s race?
“Even though we had a top-five finish last time at Pocono Raceway, we’re still working hard to improve on that run. Before that race, I felt like Pocono was my worst track. After that top-five run, it gave me a lot more confidence heading into this race. I think there’s still some things I need to work on and figure out. There are only a few races left in the season, so we’re putting in as much work as possible to come out with the best finishes we can. Every position matters at this point when it’s so close in the point standings.”
