Race Preview: Kansas 150
MUNFORD, AL (Oct. 12, 2016) – After rallying to a seventh-place finish at Kentucky in his intermediate track debut, Bret Holmes looks to build off what he learned in Sparta and bring home an even stronger finishing position this Friday at Kansas Speedway in the Kansas 150.
The 100-lap race will conclude the 2016 season for the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and give Holmes another shot at learning on a 1.5-mile racetrack as he and BHR put the lid on a very successful partial season that has helped mold Holmes into a more seasoned competitor.
“It has been an exciting run this season in ARCA,” Holmes said. “I have learned so much about myself as a driver and also so many new things about racing that will help me in the future, including this weekend at Kansas. I made some errors in the last race, but I think this Friday I will show just how well I can do on a mile and a half track.”
The No.23 Holmes Excavating/Southern States Bank Chevy that saw top-5 lap times throughout the weekend in Kentucky will be back Friday at Kansas. This machine paired with the hard work that BHR — under the leadership of crew chief Grant Enfinger – has put in should give the team a solid chance to make another run at victory lane this weekend.
“Grant (Enfinger) and Sam (Schram), along with the entire crew have put so much time and effort into these cars to make them the best, so hopefully I can put together a good run for them,” Holmes said.
Holmes still has not finished outside the top-10 in any ARCA race this season and will look to continue this streak on Friday.
“We have a fast car for this weekend, and I think we can battle for a win,” Holmes said. The equipment that we have been bringing to the track has been right up there with the best cars, so I can’t wait to get to the track and see what this team can do. We will be a long way from Alabama, but hopefully, we will be coming back with a trophy.”
The Kansas 150 will be aired live on FS1 at 6:30 p.m. (CDT). Make sure to check your local listings.
