CLERMONT, Indiana – Fresh off a huge win in the 28th annual Wood-Tick Weekend at Merritt Speedway, Chad Finley takes that momentum to Friday night’s Sioux Chief PowerPEX® presented by Jive at Lucas Oil Raceway in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
Not only does Finley want to keep his momentum alive in his second ARCA race of the season, but his Chad Finley Racing (CFR) looks to finish what they started in June at Michigan International Speedway, where an early race spin put the team behind and unable to capitalize on a top-10 finish in their series return.
“I can’t wait to get to Lucas Oil this weekend,” said Finley. “The win last weekend at Merritt Speedway was huge for me. I was driving for my uncle and he put a lot of faith in me to go out there and win. We got it done and we celebrated in a big way and it was awesome to do that in front of a lot of family and friends.”
While winning in his home state is cool, fresh and memorable, Finley knows the ability to win on national spotlight is huge for his family and marketing partners.
“Winning is something that’s bred in my family,” Finley added. “Our family has built our race team around the desire to win and make good things happen. It’s not easy to win. So much has to go right for it to happen, but we proved it last weekend that we can make it happen and I hope we’re able to take some of what we learned there and apply it to the ARCA race on Friday night.”
In addition to Auto Value and Air Lift Company, All-Star Performance will serve as the primary marketing partner for Finley’s second ARCA race of the season on Friday night aboard the No. 51 Toyota Camry.
The key to success in a car building project is access to high quality, reasonably priced parts that get the job done right. All-Star Performance offers thousands of unique specialty items not only for race cars but hot rod, street performance and off-road enthusiasts as well.
“I’m really thankful to have the support of All-Star Performance, Auto Value and Air Lift Company, without them we would not be going to Lucas Oil this weekend,” said Finley. “I was disappointed in myself for a while with the way that our return at Michigan went. We had a real fast car, but had a spin early in the race and we fought the entire race to recover. We finished 13th, but that isn’t good enough for me or us.
We’re going to Lucas Oil rewinding back to our short track mentality, but we’ve still got some fuel in the tank to try to accomplish what we started at Michigan.”
To prepare, Finley and his Bruce Cook lead team for one of the stoutest fields of the season, Finley tested at the historic short track last weekend hoping to give the team an advantage for Friday night’s race.
“I’m glad we decided to test,” sounded Finley. “Bruce and the guy’s were really working hard on the setup to make sure the car responded to the changes, but also find a comfort zone where we could start off from and build on that for practice on Friday and eventually for the race. Bruce came with his list of things to do so we went through those motions and I was satisfied with the test. We will get a good indicator of how good we were when everyone else hits the speed charts on Friday.”
In addition to Lucas Oil, Finley will also compete at Chicagoland Speedway on Sept. 15 and the season-finale at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 14.
In 11 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards starts between, Chad Finley has mounted three top-fives and six top-10 finishes, including a pole at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in 2009. Finley’s career-best finish is third, twice, including his most recent ARCA race at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in Oct. 2010.
The 12th installment for the 2016 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season is set for Friday, July 22 from the 0.686-mile paved Lucas Oil Raceway oval. The event will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 beginning at 9:00 p.m. The Sioux Chief PowerPEX® presented by Jive (200 laps / 137 miles) marks Finley’s debut in The Hoosier State.
