Frank Kimmel Prepares for “Family” Homecoming at Salem Speedway

Concord, NC (September 15, 2015) – Saturday night’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Salem Speedway will mark Frank Kimmel’s tenth and final start of the season behind the wheel of the No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota.

Kimmel, who’s spit the Ansell-Menard Toyota season driving duties with Venturini Motorsports teammate Brandon Jones, will cap off his season at his home track in the 98th running of the Federated Car Care Fall Classic 200. In nine series starts this season, Kimmel has earned four top-5 and five top-10 finishes.

Prior to the 2015 campaign, Kimmel, a 10-time ARCA champion, has finished in the top-10 driver point standings in 23 consecutive seasons. Over the span of his career Kimmel has re-written the ARCA record books with numerous accomplishments including the all-time series win leader with 80 victories. Earlier this year Kimmel earned his 43rd Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell at Pocono Raceway, tying Iggy Katona for most in series history.

Frank Kimmel, who made his 500th career ARCA start on Labor Day, will make his 43rd career start at Salem Speedway. Kimmel, the all-time ARCA Salem winner with 9 victories, 26-top 5 and 35 top-10 track finishes, will race along-side his son, Frankie Kimmel. Frankie Kimmel will be making his first start of the season driving the No.55 Aisin Toyota for Venturini Motorsports.

“It’s always special to compete at Salem. But this weekend will be extra special coming home and racing alongside Frankie in front of our hometown fans,” said Kimmel. “I expect strong competition from him (Frankie) and know he’ll race me hard. Knowing we’ll both have strong cars I’ll have my work cut out for myself. But at the end of the day I’ll race him just like any other driver – I’m going to do everything I can to park our Ansell-Menards Toyota in victory lane.”

After 17 races, the duo of Kimmel-Jones, who are splitting the driving duties this season, have combined for nine top-5 and twelve top-10 finishes – placing the No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota third in the ARCA Racing Series Owner Championship points’ standings – a mere 65 points out of the top spot with three races remaining. Kimmel’s will compete at Salem in his final race of the season. Brandon Jones will return for the final two races of the season at Kentucky and Kansas.

During Kimmel’s 26-year ARCA career he’s accumulated impressive stats across the board. Since 1990, Kimmel has amassed 80 wins, 43 poles, 272 Top-5’s and 373 Top-10 finishes – he’s led over 11,000 laps in 216 races. Kimmel’s unprecedented 10-ARCA championships came in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2013. He also finished second in driver points in ‘94, ’97, ‘99 & ’12. Kimmel’s 80 wins and 43 poles are most in series history. Kimmel is also a 6-time Superspeedway Challenge champion and a 7-time Bill France Four Crown champ.

Salem Raceday Schedule
ARCA Racing Series practice for the Federated Car Care Fall Classic at Salem will begin at 12:30pm. Saturday, September 19 with final practice to follow at 1:45pm. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is set for 4:00. A driver autograph session follows at 4:45pm with driver introductions at 6:45. The race is scheduled to get the green flag at 7:15pm EST.
