Grant Enfinger, driver of the No.23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet brings home a fifth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway in the Crosley Brands 150 Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Racing Series presented by Menards, recording the teams 12th top-five finish of the season.
Enfinger qualified 12th quickest for the 100-lap event; however, rain postponed the race that was originally scheduled for Friday night. The Fairhope, Ala., native climbed into the top-10 on lap 34, battling a tight handling condition that lasted the majority of the race. When the second caution of the day occurred due to rain on lap 40, crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz called Enfinger to pit road on lap 43 for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment to help loosen the tight conditions, returning to the field in the 10th position. Under the same caution the leaders started cycling through pit stops placing Enfinger in the fifth position to restart on lap 58. Enfinger battled his way up to the second position, contending for the lead on lap 84. The 30-year-old dropped back into the fifth-position after experiencing a worn down right front tire and held that position for the remainder of the race.
Enfinger heads into the season finale at Kansas Speedway 320 points ahead of second-place Josh Williams in the ARCA Racing Series driver championship point standings. By starting race No. 20 of the 2015 ARCA season at Kansas Speedway, Enfinger will win his first series championship.
Grant Enfinger’s Quote:
“We came to Kentucky for a strong finish and as a team we accomplished that. A top-five is exactly what we needed to head into Kansas with; we just need to keep this momentum going. The GMS Racing team did a great job this weekend and supplied me with a strong Allegiant Travel Chevrolet. I did battle tightness the majority of the race but everyone else seemed to have that issue also. I can’t thank all my supporters enough for making this possible: Allegiant Travel, Champion Power Equipment, WURTH USA, and Portable Shade.”
