Brownsburg, IN – (July 24, 2016) – Myatt Snider and his Louisiana Hot Sauce No. 22 team searched all day Friday for speed that would allow Snider to compete for the checkered flag. In the end, the team made numerous changes that gave the 21 year old rookie his third top-5 finish in just five starts….a third place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Through both afternoon practice sessions, Snider and crew chief Paul Andrews struggled to get the Ford handling in the corners, before he posted the fifth quickest qualifying speed. As soon as Snider passed the start/finish line, after taking the initial green flag, he got a jump on the leader…battling for the point by turn 2. He quickly settled in, running in the top-5 positions, as crew chief, Paul Andrews told his rookie driver that the race could go green for many laps—based on historical data.
The team made just two pit stops throughout the race, the first coming on lap 70 for right side tires and fuel. The second stop….the money stop….came with 60 laps remaining in the 200 lap event. Snider’s pit crew made a lightning quick four tire and fuel stop to pick him up three spots. Snider restarted in second, side by side with his teammate, Chase Briscoe.
The battle for the lead continued for a couple of laps, before Snider fell back. In the final ten laps, Snider battled hard to take the checkered flag in third. The finish was his third top-3 finish, after he had earned the checkered flag in his debut ARCA Series race at Toledo Speedway in May.
Snider and his team will tackle the “Tricky Triangle”, for the second time this season, next week on Friday, July 29. The lone practice is scheduled for 9:30-10:55 EST, followed by Menards Pole Qualifying at 2:00. The ModSpace 150 at Pocono Raceway will take the green flag 5:30, with live coverage on Fox Sports 1. In his first trip in June to the 2.5-mile track in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, Snider led 33 laps before finishing 9th.
