Mooresville (August 4, 2022) — Tim Goulet Enterprises (TGE) announced today that Rita Thomason will join the organization’s NASCAR ARCA Series for her final race of 2022, Rita to race Watkins Glen, a 2.45 mile road course in New York. The race will take place on August 19th and will also feature the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity
Rita made her debut race in the NASCAR ARCA Menard’s Series in June 2022 with Clubb Racing Inc, at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, finishing 12th out of 17 cars. Her second race was again with Clubb Racing Inc, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Complex in Lexington, OH, where under very challenging race conditions, she placed a respectable 19th out of 26 cars.
After several seasons of racing her spec Miata on road courses throughout the Southeast, Rita is making the leap into professional racing in the NASCAR ARCA Menard’s Series (a developmental series into the highest tiers of NASCAR). Rita works full time as a police sergeant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and races the #31 Chevrolet for Tim Goulet Enterprises.
While the 2023 ARCA schedule is not yet published, the first race of 2023 is always during “Speedweek” at Daytona International Speedway in February, and Rita is excited to race her first superspeedway event at this historic track.
“I mean, realistically, at 38, I’m probably never going to make a Cup start” “But I’m thrilled to race ARCA and maybe move on to Trucks or Xfinity when I’m ready.”
