December 13, 2015 – Indianapolis, IN – Cunningham Motorsports put the exclamation point on another successful race season Saturday evening during the ARCA Racing Series’ annual year-end banquet. The award dinner was held at the Indianapolis Convention Center for the fourth year.

The Cunningham organization took the SCOTT Rookie of the Year award for the fifth time in seven years. Kyle Weatherman competed in just fifteen races during the 2015 season and solidly took the top rookie spot. In addition, the eighteen year old earned the inaugural Calypso Short Track Challenge award, which is awarded to the top points finisher in the ten tracks under one mile in length. The Wentzville, Mo., native also grabbed his first career ARCA Series win at New Jersey Motorsports Park in May, with 10 top-5 finishes and 13 top-10 finishes in 2015, en route to a tenth place finish in championship points in his partial season. Weatherman also earned three poles, tying champion Grant Enfinger…who won the Menards Pole Award based on a tie breaker of number of wins.

The No. 22, led by crew chief, Paul Andrews, earned the prestigious Bill France 4 Crown on the basis of Weatherman’s finishes at Toledo (5th), New Jersey Motorsports Park (1st), Indiana State Fairgrounds (2nd) and the first career victory for Blake Jones at Talladega Superspeedway….and amazing average finish of second. The team also took the runner-up spot in the car owner points, finishing 45 points behind Enfinger. With four different drivers in the No. 22, including Weatherman, Blake Jones, Trevor Bayne and Josh Williams, Andrews completed the season with three victories, 12 top-5 finishes and 16 top-10 finishes.

Tom Hessert’s No. 77 team earned fourth place in the championship driver’s points battle…just thirty points out of the second spot. On the strength of Hessert’s 7 top-5 finishes and 12 top-10 finishes, his crew chief, Chad Bryant earned the Cometic Crew Chief of the Year award for the second year in a row. Additionally, Hessert’s team finished second in the Bill France 4 Crown Award…giving the Cunningham organization a 1, 2 finish in that category.

With the 2016 season opener just around the corner in February, the Cunningham shop is hard at work, getting things ready for the open test at Daytona International Speedway on January 15-16, 2016. Last week’s announcement of Chase Briscoe in the No. 77 leaves one current opening in the Cunningham line-up for the upcoming year.
