As Labor Day approaches, most 15-year-olds are concerned about the start of a new school year.
Tyler Dippel is not your typical 15-year-old.
Tyler is gearing up to spend Labor Day competing in his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race. He’s headed to the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, a 1-mile clay oval in DuQuoin, Illinois.
Tyler’s second start comes just two weeks after his first, the Allen Crowe 100 in Springfield, IL.
In that race, which was also on a 1 mile clay oval similar to DuQuoin, he raced his way to the front of the pack, where he stayed until the closing laps of the race when he fell just outside of the top ten.
The teenage racer from Wallkill, New York, who is scheduled to start his Sophomore year of High School on the Wednesday after the race, will be back behind the wheel for Lira Motorsports in their No. 58 Ford Fusion at DuQuoin. His car will carry sponsorship from Mohawk Northeast (Connecticut), D&A Concrete Contractors, and TyCar Trenchless Technologies, in addition to Lira Motorsports partners Momo, TraqGear and Ford Performance.
Tyler is equally as serious about school as he is about racing. He is on course to graduate from Wallkill High School early, with only one more year to go.
Tyler Dippel on what he learned in his ARCA debut: “I’ll be going into the race at DeQuoin with a little better feel for the car regarding weight transfer and the handling of these heavier cars, as well as trying to conserve my tires a little better.”
Tyler Dippel on racing at DuQuoin: “My goal in the race this weekend is to capitalize and learn from our mistakes from the last race and to finish the race with a good position. I feel we’ll have the car to win with Lira Motorsports going into DeQuoin. We definitely had a winning car at Springfield, we were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m really excited and looking forward to getting back into the #58 car with Lira Motorsports. We all worked great together!”
On-track schedule: The ARCA Series drivers have one practice session, from 9:00-10:00am.
