June 2, 2015 – Mooresville, NC – Trevor Bayne, the 2011 Daytona 500 winner and teammate Tom Hessert
will join forces at Cunningham Motorsports for the Pocono ARCA 200 on Saturday, June 6. The two drivers
have the same goal for the ‘Tricky Triangle’—to win.
With no on-track experience at the 2.5-mile track, Bayne is running the ARCA Series presented by Menards
race to gain valuable track time before running the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 on Sunday, June 7.
Bayne, who is running his first full NSCS season with Roush Fenway Racing, has made 71 NSCS starts with 1
victory-at Daytona International Speedway in 2011. It was his second career start in the Series, where he
became the youngest driver to win at the “World Center of Racing.” In addition, Bayne has 151 NASCAR
Xfinity Series starts; earning 2 wins and 72 top-10 finishes.
Looking forward to the weekend, Bayne said, “I’ve never raced an ARCA car ever in anything. I went a
different route in the K&N Series and Hooter’s Pro Cup Series so it will be a little different, a little bit of fun
to race the ARCA Series. The learning curve will be the race track. That will be a lot of fun to figure out.”
Hessert will be making his 147 th ARCA Series start….his 14th start at Pocono with a best finish of 3rd last
season . Hessert considers the track his second home track, since it is within two hours of his nearby Cherry
Hill, NJ home. Hessert is looking for his first checkered flag of the season, with 5 victories in his previous
146 starts. In the last two races, at Toledo Speedway and New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) road
course, Hessert finished in the runner up spot.
Within 50 points of the championship leader, Hessert commented on his season, “We’ve been good all
year, but haven’t had the finishes to show for it. I can’t wait to get to Pocono. We want a win!”
The Cunningham organization will test during the ARCA open test at the Long Pond, PA track on
Wednesday. In addition to Bayne and Hessert, Kyle Weatherman will also participate in the test. With
plans to run the second ARCA Pocono race in August, Weatherman will seek approval for that race through
In their most recent outing, the Cunningham teams had a unique experience at the New Jersey Motorsports
Park, when the teams had a 1-2 finish. Kyle Weatherman won his first ARCA Series race with Hessert
crossing the checkered flag in the runner up spot.
Race weekend begins on Friday with the lone practice from 2:15-4:15 EST. Menards Pole Qualifying
