Daytona Beach, Florida (December 20, 2014) – For Carter 2 Motorsports, the two-day Open Testing at the Daytona International Speedway was a complete success for the team and the multiple that participated.

“I am pleased with the success we had this weekend,” team owner Roger Carter said. “We got a lot of kids certified, and all of them showcased their driving talent. We are very impressed with what we saw and look forward to the possibility of them driving for us in the future.”

Out of the entire Carter 2 Motorsports organization, Roger Carter initially turned the best lap of 49.080 seconds, placing him at the top of the charts for Saturday’s morning session. Unfortunately, the time was disallowed, due to an error made by the crew when the mandatory spacer was installed. Therefore, this placed series newcomer, Cassie Gannis, at the top of the charts, running a 49.599 second lap in Friday afternoon’s session.

“It felt great!” Gannis said of her run. “The car felt amazing and it did exactly what I wanted it to do. I am really excited to get behind the wheel of an ARCA car again in the near future.”

Aside from Gannis, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour phenom Tommy Barrett Jr. also turned many heads throughout the weekend.

“I really loved being in an ARCA car,” Barrett Jr. said of his experience. “I learned a lot and I think we really have a chance in January to be towards the top of the board.”

Barrett Jr.’s best time of the weekend was a 49.663 second lap around the 2.5-mile D-oval.

In addition to the “youngsters” fast laps, team owner and series veteran Roger Carter showed some muscle, running a 49.716 second lap in Saturday’s morning session.

Mark Meunier rounded out the Top-4, for Carter 2 Motorsports, as he recorded a lap of 49.918 seconds.

Also taking time for the team, in multiple runs, were Cody Lane with a lap of 52.811 seconds, Mark Montgomery with a lap of 52.950 seconds, Emerson Newton-John with a lap of 53.545 seconds, and Josh Reeves with a lap of 53.793 seconds.

There were four drivers who originally were slated to test with the team, but could not make it due to previous commitments. Jami Wiemer, Gregg Hutto Jr., Ray Ciccarelli, and most notably, Bobby Hamilton Jr. did not attend the test.

Hamilton Jr. was forced to miss the test, due to a previous commitment back in Tennessee, regarding personal matters. He still plans to test and race with Carter 2 Motorsports at Daytona and select races throughout the 2015 ARCA Racing Series campaign.

Carter 2 Motorsports plans to utilize the third and final day of ARCA Racing Series testing at the Daytona International Speedway on January 16th, 2015. Only a handful of drivers from this test will participate in January, while the team also has a limited amount of seats still open.

The team plans to announce its lineup for January at a later date.
