MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 6, 2017) – NASCAR NEXT driver Zane Smith will make his debut with MDM Motorsports at Salem Speedway located in Salem, Ind., on Saturday. He will drive the No. 28 KMC Wheels Toyota in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS) Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 by Meadow View/Salem Crossing.
Smith, 18, has scored nine top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes in 13 career ARS starts. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native joins an organization that has won four ARS races this season with four different drivers.
“MDM Motorsports has proven that it is a winning organization,” said Smith. “To be able to pilot a Toyota Camry out of that shop is an honor. I can’t wait to get to work at Salem this weekend.”
Salem (Ind.) Speedway is one of the fastest short tracks in the country. It is just over a half-mile in length at 0.555-miles around and features 33 degrees of banking in the corners. The first ARS event was held there in 1955.
“Salem is a very fast short track. The banking is very aggressive and makes for some great racing,” Smith said. “I know the MDM Motorsports guys will bring a really fast No. 28 KMC Toyota this weekend.”
The ARCA Racing Series (ARS) Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 by Meadow View/Salem Crossing is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 9, at 7:15 p.m.
