Wellesley’s own Blake Lothian takes the next step in his NASCAR journey as he drives onto the asphalt at the famed Daytona National Speedway this weekend for two days of ARCA testing. Lothian will be driving the #3 race car for Mullins Racing of Fredericksburg, Virginia. If approved by ARCA this weekend, the door is open for Lothian to race future races in the ARCA Menards Racing series and eventually the NASCAR national touring series.

In the 2021 season, the 19-year-old Lothian raced late model stock cars across the southeast in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series with the Mike Darne Racing team. Lothian, in his rookie 2021 late model season, racked up eight top tens in eight starts and five top 5’s. On September 11th, 2021 Lothian won his first late model race at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina, one of the toughest tracks on the circuit. Past winners at Hickory include Dale Earnhardt and others who have gone on to national recognition. In 2019 and 2020 Lothian participated in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Driver Development program where he won a top 5 championship in the INEX Legends Summer Shootout series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Blake is looking forward to this next step at Daytona this weekend as he continues his NASCAR journey. Lothian is a 2021 graduate of Wellesley High School and speaks regularly to school children about reaching their goals.
