Race car driver David Levine was born with a ventricular septal defect and had open heart surgery when he was just four months old. Now 21 years old, David is a college senior and a professional race car driver competing full time in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. He started this season with a 15th place finish at Daytona in February, and will be back on track with the Series at Mobile International Speedway in the ARCA Mobile 200 on March 14th.

Before he gets to the track, David will race over to USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Mobile, wearing his full driver’s suit, to visit with children and share autographed racing photos and stories. “I am really honored to share my personal heart story, not only to raise awareness about congenital heart defects, but also to let my racing fans know just how important living a healthy lifestyle is at any age,” says Levine.

David will continue to share his personal heart story at several more hospitals this year as he criss-crosses the country with his family and his Lira Motorsports racing team. He has visited children in hospitals for the past several years, and started his own campaign, DriveForHeart.org, in 2012. The campaign aims to raise awareness about heart health among young adults and raise funds for research into the causes of, and potential cures for, congenital heart defects.
