Grant Enfinger, drove GMS Racing‘s No. 23 Allegiant Travel / Stutzman Custom Carpentry Chevrolet SS to a second-place finish in Sunday’s Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Herr’s Chase The Taste 200. This marks the halfway point of the 2015 ARCA season and Enfinger still holds onto the ARCA championship points lead, with Josh Williams trailing by 115 points. The Fairhope, Ala., native started in the third position, since inclement weather canceled ARCA Menards Qualifying presented by Ansell and the field was set based off current owners points. Enfinger led 34 laps of the 200-lap event and maintained his top-five position throughout the race until the car became tight on entry and loose off exit, which caused him to drop out of the top-10. Crew chief Kelly Kovski called Enfinger to pit road on lap 140 under caution for four tires, multiple adjustments and fuel to help tighten the loose conditions. Enfinger entered pit road in the eighth position and returned to the field in the fifth position. On the last lap, Enfinger battled the No. 25 of Brandon Jones for the second position where he remained until the checkered flag, bringing home his best finish of second at the famed half-mile, Winchester Speedway.
GRANT ENFINGER QUOTE:
“Our No. 23 Allegiant Travel / Stutzman Custom Carpentry team worked really hard this weekend. The crew built an incredibly fast racecar. I hate we didn’t come out on top but another second-place finish is great. That was a great run by (Brandon) Jones, we raced hard there at the end; I knew he wore out his rear tires, so I used that as an advantage to battle for the second position. We got lucky when the sixth caution came out and (crew chief, Kelly) Kovski found a slow leakage in the right rear tire. We made a great recovery after dropping out of the top-10. Thank you to Allegiant Travel, Stutzman Custom Carpentry, WURTH USA and Portable Shade for all of your support.”
